BQM-34A Launch

Photo shows a Navy BQM-34 drone being launched by the Air Force as part of the Joint Cruise Missile Program. This drone was modified to allow testing of the Cruise Missile Guidance Set later installed in the first cruise missiles including the Navy Tomahawk Cruise Missiles. These drone flights, performed at WSMR in January 1976, involved flight of the drone over a map course programmed into the cruise missile guidance set. These tests were performed prior to flight tests of the actual cruise missiles.
