Improved Nike Hercules

This photo shows the Improved Nike Hercules Integrated Fire Control (IFC) area,
which was located at Launch Complex 37 (formerly Army Launch Area 3) at White
Sands Missile Range. The photo was taken looking Southwest.
The radars seen are, from left to right, the
large dome on the tower is the
High Power
Acquisition Radar (HIPAR),
the Missile
Tracking Radar (MTR), the Target Tracking
Radar (TTR),
the Target Ranging Radar (TRR),
and the
Low Power Acquisition Radar (LOPAR)
(dark antenna on pedestal). The building just beyond the
MTR is the Generator building. A small portion of the HIPAR transmitter,
receiver, control building can be seen just to the left of the generator
building. The ever-present Organ mountains located southwest of the main post
area can be seen in the background. |
